Night Lizard
Night Lizard has quickly become a downtown favorite beer pub. They brew some tasty beers and their passion for the environment is a winner in a place like Santa Barbara.
Their name and the monikers for their beers come from endangered critters found on the Channel Islands and other nearby habitats.
Night Lizard just celebrated their 2nd Anniversary offering their guests some great IPA’s including one of their top sellers, the Gnatcatcher IPA.
Institution Ale Company
Institution Ale has to be on any Best Santa Barbara Breweries. Located at 516 State Street, Institution Ale is a local’s favorite as well as a place visitors flock to. Maybe it’s the high ceilings and glass that make you feel part of the place even when you are just walking down State.
Institution’s ales are crafted in Camarillo, making the place on State a pure taproom that also features a fine selection of pizza and salads. If you like interesting IPA’s, give the Pink Guava or one of their acclaimed citrus beers.
Rincon Brewing Company
Rincon Brewing Company is located at 205 Santa Barbara Street in the Funk Zone. Rincon crafts their beers at their Carpentaria and Ventura locations, making the Funk Zone store a pure taproom.
Rincon has beers for all tastes from IPA, Pilsners, Browns, Stouts, Lagers, and more. What a lot of locals like is their food menu with some killer panini’s, crisp fresh salads, and tasty flatbreads. Another plus is they have both wine and Kombucha on the menu too.
Come on down to Rincon, sit out on the patio, do some people watching and see why so many locals call this place home.
Topa Topa
Last up on our shortlist of the Best Santa Barbara Breweries and Tap Houses is Topa Topa located in a co-lab space at 120 Santa Barbara Street in the Funk Zone.
The first thing people ask is what is with the name Topa Topa. It is the name of the mountain range to the north of Ventura where their beer magic started.
Topa Topa is known for a lot of hand-crafted beer choices including some killer stouts, lots of IPAs, and many surprises.
They do not serve food at Topa Topa but you are likely to find a food truck or two nearby. Lastly, they welcome your pups and kids, so bring them with.
